It's always my thrill to find these wonderful pieces at the end of a garage sale.  Portville, NY family, thank you.  They asked for a "donation - pay what you want."  I grabbed a bunch of things and left a business card as well.  Maybe I can help them later.  This had a brown vinyl covering on the table top with a piece missing from the edge.  The top is not hinged on.  I debated putting a hinge on it but decided against it.  Keep it to open simply.  A harsh opening could damage the integrity of the wood which is always a treasured part to me.  I might sand it down later and leave the wood to breathe.
